Introduction of Sunita Rai
Sunita has a strong passion for her work and is always full of zest for life. Her keen interest to work with people propelled her to switch career from a Marketing Manager in an MNC to a Psychotherapist. She has over 17 years of experience in local and international marketing, counselling, social services, education and training.
Sunita’s competencies are in developing curriculums, conducting workshops, lecturing, coaching, training, facilitating and counselling. Currently, besides providing counselling and life coaching, she lectures at the local polytechnics and at various local and overseas institutions. She has lectured on the following topics: life skills, interpersonal relationship management, positive psychology, needs analysis in relationships, object relations, value-based lifestyle, work-life balance, motivation, stress management, emotional management, counselling theories/skills and psychology amongst others.
The areas of her specialisation are Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Reality Therapy, Systems Thinking, Five Sheaths Model, Behaviour Therapy, Couple and Family Counselling, Group Therapy and Counselling Children Methodologies. Her counselling experience covers a wide spectrum of individuals that includes children, teens, couples and families from schools, counselling centres, family service centres and children’s home. She has handled cases related to the following issues: childhood abuse, spousal abuse, abandonment/neglect, bullying, relationship tensions, youth delinquency, violence, substance abuse, dysfunctional communication, stress, family discord, incarceration, couple conflict, adultery, divorce, career challenges, public speaking and others. Amongst her many achievements, is developing an entire spiritual cum psychological model of therapy for rehabilitation for the incarcerated and training counsellors to guide others in living a responsible life.
One of her greatest strengths is the ability to synthesize various theories and applying it in practice. This has made a great difference to people from all walks of life as they have found it effective yet simple. Moreover, her ability to appreciate cultural diversity and to adapt to different situations are a great value-add to her clients. Her strong analytical and organizational skills have enabled her to be effective in her area of work. She balances her objectivity with a keen sense of sensitivity to people’s cognitive and emotional needs.
